• Institute of Language and Cultural Diversity

  Equips local and international students with relevant communication skills in the academic, business, and social contexts.

  Provides language proficiency assessments including aptitude and achievement tests to ensure the student possesses latent and manifest skills to handle the daily challenges to finish a university coursework.

  Suggests appropriate intervention through the center’s training modules when needed.

  Enhances general proficiency in English to a level appropriate for a university study.

• International On-the-Job Training Program

  Provides students the opportunity to live and work in an international setting to develop their professional profile, to become known within the large professional network in their fields of study, and to share multicultural experiences between the host country and the Philippines, thus gain new perspectives and insights.

  Fosters close collaboration and strengthen international relations between host country and the Philippines.

• International Visitor Coordination

  Foreign students can begin or continue with an undergraduate or graduate degree program in UPHSD. Choose among the university’s wide selection of accredited program offerings. OISA takes care of the details as students live and learn in the Philippines ensuring they will experience outstanding academic excellence and rich cultural immersion.

• International Program Development

  Assists faculty members in obtaining grantsmanship, grant writing, and proposal development support services to the Perpetualite community, as well as aid them in identifying funding opportunities from a wide variety of resources.

• International Ties

  OISA spearheads in developing productive relationships, bilateral agreements, and exploring collaboration and exchange with international institutions, networks, and organizations.

• Protocol For Foreign Medical Students

  PRIOR TO ARRIVAL IN THE PHILIPPINES
  

  Responsible office: Office International Student Affairs (ensure the accuracy and documents authenticity of the documents submitted)

  A.  Inform applicant or the representative to submit scanned copies of the following documents:

  Official Transcript of Records reflecting completion of a Bachelor’s degree

  Diploma or Certificate of Graduation

  Data page of prospective student’s passport bearing date, place of birth and passport number

  B.  Upon receipt of the documents in item A:

  Forward scholastic records to the Dean of the medical school for evaluation

  Follow up after 2-3 working days

  The Dean of the medical school shall endorse the evaluation to the OISA Executive Director for issuance of a Conditional Offer Letter within 3 days if qualified

  C.  Send Conditional Offer Letter to the applicant or the representative

  D.  Inform applicant

  To take EITHER the TOEFL, TOEIC or IELTS and obtain the following cut-off scores:

  • TOEFL-Paper-based: not less than 550; Computer-based: not less than 213; Internet-based; not less than 79
  • TOEIC- Listening Score: not less than 300; Reading Score: not less than 350
  • IELTS-not less than 7

  To take the NMAT(National Medical Admission Test) and obtain a grade of no less than 40 percentile

  Should the applicant meet the standards set by the medical school for items 1 and 2, he/she should bring original copies of the following documents:

• Protocol For International Collaboration/Partnership Programs

  This set of guidelines defines the phases in the processing of International Collaboration /Partnership Programs, and the responsibilities of the various administrators in the different stages of the process. The guidelines aim to ensure timely processing of programs that are consistent with the UPHSD Vision-Mission.

  PHASE1. RECEIPT OF INITIAL INQUIRY OR PROPOSAL
  

  Responsible office: Office International Student Affairs
  Within one (1) week from receipt of initial inquiry or proposal, ISA will do the following;

  A.  Require submission of documents from the interested party in terms of the following:

  Proof that the entry is recognized in their home country

  Authority of the entity to engage business in the Philippines

  Authority of the company and signatory to enter into a contract/agreement with UPHSD

  Name/s and Contact details of the authorized representative/s

  Endorsement of the entity by its embassy in the Philippines

  B.  Prepare an initial evaluation of the proposal focusing on the following areas:

  Purpose of the proposal

  Alignment of Proposed program /collaboration with UPHSD thrusts

  Benefits to UPHSD as an institution and its stakeholders ( faculty, students, administrators)

  Initial financial implications

  C.  Endorse the information and initial evaluation to the School Directors

  PHASE 2. REVIEW OF PROPOSAL AND DESIGN OF PRELIMINARY PROGRAM
  

  Responsible office: School Director’s Office
  Time Frame: 7 working days
  Upon receipt of the information and initial evaluation, the School Director will:

  A.  Gather further information from the proponent, if necessary

  B.  Meet with administrators concerned (Dean, CFO, etc.,)

  C.  Prepare recommendations and concrete course of action

  D.  Coordinate with Legal Department on the preparations of MOA.

  E.  Submit proposed course of action and MOA program to ISA

  PHASE 3: FINALIZATION OF PROGRAM AND MOA
  

  Responsible office: International Student Affairs
  Time Frame: 7-21 working days
  Upon receipt of the proposed program and MOA, ISA will:

  A.  Submit documents to the Legal Department for review

  B.  Submit a copy of the documents to the Chief Finance Officer for final review of financial plan and costing

  C.  After the review by the Legal Department and Chief Finance Officer, routes the documents to SDs and administrators concerned for final review

  D.  Upon receipt of comments on MOA, return documents to Legal Department for finalization.

  E.  Upon receipt of endorsements by SDs and administrators, prepares final program and MOA for President’s signature.

  E.  Once approved by the President, coordinates with administrators concerned for signing of MOA.

  E.  After MOA signing, furnishes SDs approved copy of MOA and Program for implementation

  PHASE 4. PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION AND EVALUATION
  

  Responsible office: School Director’s Office and Administrator(s) Concerned
  Time Frame: Program Duration as Specified in the MOA.
  The School Director and Administrator(s) concerned are responsible for the following:

  A.  Supervision of program implementation.

  B.  Coordination with the program proponents to ensure effective and efficient implementation of the program

  C.  Coordination with administrators concerned to ensure availability of resources based on approved budget and program schedule

  D.  Submission of periodic evaluation reports to the University President and other administrative offices as may be required

  E.  Carrying out of other functions that may be necessary to ensure effective and efficient program implementation

  PHASE 5. PROGRAM ASSESSMENT/BUSINESS IMPACT
